Welcome

Poroti School is a small Year 1 – 8 school, in a great rural environment for children to develop and learn.  Our school provides our students many opportunities in the classroom, and outside the four walls, We have extensive grounds with an established orchard, gardens, shaded playground, swimming pool, trampoline, bikes and chickens.  Poroti School is a Bronze level Enviroschool, and this aspect of the curriculum is important to us.  Up to date and effective learning programmes in all curriculum areas keep students engaged and excited about their learning.  The students enjoy the experience of the different foods on offer from the daily, free lunch scheme.  Close ties are kept with the surrounding schools for sporting and cultural visits, providing our students with opportunities to meet and part and participate with wider school communities.  We have multi age groupings in our classrooms, with our students learning at their own level.  Students at Poroti School have a sense of belonging, they know and care about each other in a family atmosphere. The original school was built in 1879.

We are part of a COL (Community of Learning) with 10 other schools.

We encourage our whanau / families to get involved with school activities and their children’s learning. We welcome any feedback or ideas from our community in order to enhance what we do at school. We hope that your association with our school is a happy one, with open and honest communication between you, your child and the staff of our school.

Principal’s Open Door

You are always welcome to meet with Pauline to discuss any school matter in confidence.  It is vital that your views, opinions and concerns are heard to ensure we have an effective school that is doing its best to work for your child.  Please do not leave the concern too long, as early resolution is much better.  If we do not know about it, we can not deal with it.  Please do not hesitate to  ring to make an appointment.
