Room 2 Tuesday 21st April – Mrs Booth

Morena!

It’s Tuesday! And on Tuesdays we usually have Whaea Hoana in class with us so I have added a video to this post with a song so you can keep practicing the days of the week in Te Reo at home. As an added bonus, this video also has the days of the week in New Zealand Sign Language which, along with Te Reo Maori and English, is an official language of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Enjoy!

Autumn Leaves Maths Challenge!

Right team! I would like you to head outside and collect up as many fallen leaves as you can. If you are at home with a sibling you can work together, or not, it’s up to you.

Now I would like you to sort your fallen leaves into groups. This means putting all the leaves with the same characteristics together. For example put all the orange leaves together in one group and the brown leaves together in another group.

You can group them by one of the following:

  • Shape
  • Size
  • Colour
  • Texture (how they feel)

Or come up with your own group category if you like.

Take a picture or a video and tell me about your groups.

How many groups do you have?

Which group is the biggest/smallest? How do you know?

If you want an additional challenge, take all your leaves and order them from smallest to largest.

Have a great day!
