Room 2 Tuesday 5th May – Mrs Booth

Kia ora e te  Whanau!

Music and Movement!

This is a beautiful song written by Hirini Melbourne, who was a super talented Maori composer, singer, university lecturer, poet and author. Have a listen and sing along. We will be re-visiting this song in class at a later date.

Your challenge is… find yourself some space and create your own dance actions to the chorus for the following lyrics:

  • Purerehua – butterfly
  • Rere runga hau – on the wind
  • Papaki parihau – fluttering wings
  • Ka piki ka piki – up and up
  • Runga rawa e – way up high

Share your dance actions with someone in your bubble or you could meet me in our Room 2 Google Classroom and we can dance together!

Fast Words Challenge!

Pick a list of Fast Words from your Home Learning Box (or your Home Learning Book) and if you have some chalk and concrete at home, write each word on your list 3 times. Make sure you say the word as you write it.

If you don’t have chalk you can write your fast words in a sandpit or make them out of sticks, leaves or rocks instead.

Extension: Pick 5 Fast Words from your chosen list and see if you can find them in some books, or, if you are feeling really clever, pick 5 fast words from your chosen list and write them in a story.

If you’re not sure what to write about you can use this picture for inspiration.

The Twits!

Meet me in Room 2’s Google Classroom for some more of ‘The Twits’ at 11am (Let’s try this again). The next chapter is called ‘The House, The Tree and the Monkey Cage’

I have no idea what’s going to happen but it sounds interesting…

See you there!
